The most popular question from our skin care clients is ALWAYS: How often should I get a facial? The short answer is: it depends on 1) your current skin conditions, 2) your skin care goals, and 3) how quickly you need to see results.
At beauty & the BRiDE Skin Care, we typically recommend our clients return every four – six weeks for minor skin issues and maintenance. That’s about how long it takes for healthy skin to move through the full life cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation. Various skin conditions and improper product usage can cause this life cycle to slow down. Professional facials will keep your skin clean, clear and healthy because treatments help with the completion of the skin’s life cycle.
Clients with more complex skin concerns (mild to moderate inflamed or non-inflamed acne, hyperpigmentation, mature AND aging skin, etc.) require more frequent treatments. Corrective treatments are suggested every 1-3 weeks depending on the severity of your skin condition. Because these skin conditions can result in a slow down of the skin’s life cycle, more frequent treatments are needed to encourage skin cell growth and exfoliation. Professional treatments are performed using highly effective active ingredients that have cumulative results. The more often treatments are performed, the longer lasting – and possibly quicker – the results will be. Plus more frequent treatments will allow us to properly assess your progress and adjust your home care when needed as we move through your treatment plan.
Now, let’s face it, we all have financial obligations. If maintaining healthy skin and getting a little self-love is a high priority for you, but your budget/wallet determined that was a lie, seasonal facials are a great way to meet your skin care needs if you’re on a tight budget. Treatments every 3-4 months will assist your skin through its life cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation as your skin adjusts to the changes of the seasons – this is especially important for summer and winter. Home care is to skin care what diet and nutrition is to fitness. Maintaining an effective and consistent home care regimen and open communication with your specialist is extremely important with this type of treatment schedule. Any changes to your skin between visits should be discussed to determine if your home care regimen needs to be adjusted or an office visit is necessary to achieve or maintain your skin care goals.
Regardless of the frequency of treatments, we always recommend our clients maintain an effective and consistent home care regimen.
