Brazilian Wax Horror Stories
As an intimate wax specialist I’ve heard tons of crazy Brazilian wax stories from other professionals. I’m always left wondering...what about the client?! Trust me those stories go both ways. I came into the beauty industry through my journey as a consumer so I, unfortunately, have stories of my own.
Oh, the things I’ve gone through for a decent to good - but never really GREAT - Brazilian wax! I’ve traveled behind the not so private curtains of noisy nail shops packed with unsuspecting customers and the aroma of acrylic powder and nail glue. I’ve been greeted by dirty wax stations and techs with questionable sanitation practices and license status that gave me patchy services (literally). I’ve even had my hoo ha burned and practically ripped apart by inexperienced licensed technicians in higher end salons - you know those places that offer the full rainbow of services but don’t really specialize in anything. Hello!? There is a reason that Doctors, Lawyers, and other licensed professionals choose a specialty in their field! And do you KNOW what happens when someone uses a poor quality hard wax filled with plastic fillers and other petrochemicals on your nether regions? I do! Instead of it coming off in one pull and quickly removing the hair from the root, the wax breaks apart. Then what?! Well, you have no choice but to lie there as they chip the remaining wax off...bit...by...bit...while you hope and pray that nothing important gets snatched off. And let’s not even mention the damaged skin and ingrown hair issues left behind from improper waxing technique.
BUT, I’m a sucker for punishment and smooth lady parts so I continued my search for the perfect Esthetician to perform my Brazilian wax services. After SE-VER-AL years I finally found the one! Her name was Maria and she was the Brazilian wax expert that showed me the light. And by “light,” I mean she introduced me to the way things SHOULD be. I followed Maria around to 3 locations, and a brief moment at her in-home treatment room. But I eventually gave up on commuting up North from the south side of Chicago. I mean, I love the north side and all, but I honestly hated driving 45+ minutes through downtown traffic AND THEN driving around for ANOTHER 15 minutes to find parking. Yikes!
If you are like me and have been struggling to find a location for intimate wax services with a licensed Brazilian wax specialist that is trained in proper sanitation practices and wax techniques, you’re in luck! Client experience and happiness is our top priority at beauty & the BRiDE Skin Care. Which is why we continue to keep our skills updated with extensive training, and take our client care and education so seriously.

Is Waxing Better for My Skin?
Now that summer has FINALLY arrived in Chicago and looks like she’s here to stay, the clothes are coming off. If you are planning to show more skin you’re probably wondering about the best method of hair removal. If you’re asking yourself “is waxing better for my skin?” The short answer is…Absolutely!
With shaving, you’ll experience the following:
– results only last 2 – 3 days max. Most women shave AT LEAST daily, with some actually shaving more than once a day to avoid a “5 o’clock shadow”
– hair regrowth feels and looks thicker and darker
– razors irritate the skin causing micro tears. This leaves the skin damaged and susceptible to infection, ingrown hair, and razor burn
– causes increased hair growth
Cream depilatories like Nair and Veet do not remove hair from the room. They not only cause chemical burns in the intimate areas being used, but they also have the same result on the hair as shaving.
If you prefer less hair, but don’t want to wax, you can trim the hair with scissors or a trimmer instead of shaving or using depilatories. If you MUST shave, use a new single blade razor Every! Single! Time! so you’re not reintroducing bacteria into damaged skin, and use a nice thick shave cream so that the razor will glide over the skin and be less likely to cause nicks and irritation.
If you’re tired of the side effects of shaving, consider waxing. Benefits of waxing include:
– hair grows back thinner and softer and looks less noticeable
– waxing exfoliates the skin leaving ti smoother, reducing pigmentation issues, and helping reduce ingrown hair
– removes hair from the root
– results last ups to 4 weeks
– decreased hair growth over time

New Year, New Services
Hey Beautiful!
It’s me, Lena, checking in from beauty & the BRiDe Skin Care. We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year! Because it is my mission to help women look AND feel beautiful, it is with great joy that we are introducing our new service: the Intimate Ingrown Hair Treatment to further that mission.
Many women suffer from painful ingrown hairs and unsightly hyperpigmentation (dark spots and blotchy skin) in their intimate area. If you are silently coping and dealing with these embarrassing issues, guess what?! You are NOT alone! If you are wondering “How do I treat my ingrown hair?” THIS is the treatment is for you!
Also known as the “Vajacial,” this targeted treatment is focused on treating and preventing ingrown hair, healing the skin, and lightening hyperpigmentation in intimate areas. It includes deep cleanse to remove impurities, extraction of black heads and ingrown hair, mask with steam, chemical exfoliation as needed, and hydration of the skin. Leaves the skin silky smooth and clear! Treatment should be performed approximately 1 – 2 weeks after waxing.
“Not only do I love her wax but her treatments she has for the up keep of waxing. I was able to get a vajacial and it helps tremendously with the hair bumps and the pigmentation (scarring) and I totally see the difference…”

Healthy Radiant Skin is Made in the Winter!
What do skin care and weight loss have in common?
They both require consistency! One workout session will NOT get you the body you want and neither will one facial get you the clear healthy skin you want. Reaching and maintaining your goal weight will require some lifestyle changes. You will need to follow a healthy diet and exercise routine. And in order to stay on track and keep making progress, you’ll also need to make adjustments to your routines.
I’ve always educated my clients that [Read more…] about Healthy Radiant Skin is Made in the Winter!
What’s the Tea on Acne?
More than 60 million Americans suffer from some form of acne breakouts. Acne affects more than 80% of all teenagers at some time in their lives, and clogged pores comprise more than 25% of all visits to the dermatologist office. Some people see acne as just an issue teens face. But for many, acne persists well into their thirties, forties, and beyond.
